Hedging

A hedge can make an ideal garden boundary offering privacy, beauty and interest as the seasons change. A hedge is far cheaper than fencing and has the advantage of being weather-resistant.

Different hedging plants grow at different speeds. If a hedge is required quicky then plants like leylandii Conifer, Laurel or Ligustrum Privet are candidates, however the faster growing plants do require more maintenance each year. Slow-growing hedges such as Yew, Box and Elaeagnus are much less effort. Some hedging plants can provide a duel purpose like the prickly Pyracantha that offers security and is a great deterrent, it aslo provides food and shelter for insects, birds and mammals.

At Botany Bay we offer a variety of hedging plants in pots throughout the year and in the autumn and winter a small range of bare root hedging plants can be bought in multiples of five.
