The classic English perennial border is a magnificent example of traditional garden planting that develops character as the years unfold, never exactly the same, but unwavering and confident in its annual show.
Perennials can provide a wonderful base for garden borders and beds, as they are treasured for their ability to flower, spread and multiply year after year. Perennials can be planted in small groups for impact and can be mixed with grasses, ferns, shrubs, bulbs and annuals to create endless variations and effects. At Botany Bay we offer an enormous range of perennials that flower early, mid and late in the calendar year. Many have been ‘home grown’ in our nursery production unit that’s only 2 minutes away from the sales area, whilst other varieties have been sourced from English growers in Cambridgeshire, Cheshire and West Sussex.
Perennials are noted for vibrant colour, texture and height enabling you to choose varieties to suit your particular planting requirements. Perennials are easy to grow and will flourish until the autumn, die down and hibernate under ground for the winter and then reappear the following spring. They are long-living and last for many years. For those gardeners who don’t have a lot of time to spend, planting perennials can provide an excellent solution, giving consistent shows every spring and summer. So whether you are an avid gardener and love spending time working with your plants, or you’re a weekend warrior who does the bare minimum to get the look you desire, you will both likely have a mutual appreciation for the perennial group of plants.
